Institutes on Teaching Social Action
Our institutes are where we train and help faculty and staff develop their social action course syllabus or workshop series that engages students in defining and leading policy change campaigns. Currently, there is no registration fee for these Institutes. In return, we ask that attendees fully participate in our community of practice by making the following commitments.
“The Institute was one of the most effective uses of my time in my 30+ years in higher education. It was empowering and affirming to be surrounded by other higher education professionals with a commitment to preparing the next generation to engage in making societal change through social action. For decades I have had social action be an integral part of my educational approach. The Institute provided a structure and the tools to implement social action in an organized and meaningful way as a part of the educational experience. Often feeling isolated and as though I was using trial and error with each project in social action work in the classroom, I left the Institute invigorated, armed with new knowledge and tools. I wondered where the Social Action Institute had been all of my higher ed life.”

Zoom Meet-Ups
We host a series of Zoom meet-ups during the Fall and Spring semesters to give faculty and staff who are teaching social action an opportunity to share and learn from others, as well as help the larger community of practice learn best practices. The upcoming schedule will be listed below.
Summit on College Social Action
We host an end-of-semester virtual summit on campus social action to give students an opportunity to share their campaigns.
