Demands
- Saint Mary’s College must expand their land acknowledgement in collaboration with the recognized Indigenous groups. The land acknowledgement must include the link to a land tax so that individuals and groups have a direct way to contribute to the Miami Nation in their pursuit of federal recognition.
- Saint Mary’s College must establish a minimum of two permanent academic courses to be taught on the Indigenous communities of Indiana, their forced removal, and contemporary Indigenous issues, successes, and efforts in their communities for Saint Mary’s students to earn a greater understanding of the College and region’s history.
- Saint Mary’s College and the University of Notre Dame must each donate $15,000 to the Miami tribe in support of their efforts to receive federal recognition.
- Federal law enforcement to support and vote in favor of the petition so that the Miami may be recognized as sovereign by the federal government.
