Course Description:

Senior Capstone in Public Health: The Public Health Capstone is an integrative experience in which students bring together the knowledge, skills and abilities acquired during their time in the Public Health - Health Promotion Major course of study. The theory learned is applied in a real world setting providing students opportunities to identify, assess and address current public health issues. Prerequisites: Senior Standing: Public Health: Health Promotion

Foundations of Community Health Workers is a new course that is based on a 90 hour approved curriculum by the Oregon Health Authority. Students who take this course will received a certificate of graduation that they can submit to the state for recognization and certification as a community health worker. I would like to incorporate theory/discussion/action as part of the experiential learning process for CHWs, increasing the time from 90 hours to closer to 110 hours instead
