Motivation to Teach Social Action:

I teach classes where students discuss social issues, they even debate them, but they don't take actionable steps. I would love to get my students more involved and have them work on a hands-on project.

Course Description:

In 212, students learn about different persuasion theories and strategies and have to use them to design their own persuasion campaign. 335 is an advanced persuasion course where they learn about persuasion and influence in the context of implicit bias, politics, social influence, etc. Their final project is a policy debate on a current issue that they select. --> Either of these two courses would work well with a social action component and I would like to keep my options open, but if I had to choose now I would pick 212
