Motivation to Teach Social Action:

I am committed to fostering an educational environment where students engage in impactful social action, bridging the gap between theory and real-world application. My goal in joining the Michigan State 2025 Institute on Teaching Social Action is to develop and implement high-impact practices that are centered on experiential learning. I believe that students should not only engage in class discussions but also actively contribute to creating meaningful change through hands-on experiences.

Course Description:

The course focuses on strategies and approaches for working effectively with juvenile delinquents and status offenders. It examines various contexts including juvenile courts, residential care, runaway shelters, and prevention programs. Students will gain hands-on learning experiences tailored to understanding and addressing the challenges faced by youth and their families, with an emphasis on practical applications and social change.
