Motivation to Teach Social Action:
As a faculty member of Economics at Purdue University Northwest, I often cover and discuss a number of topics related to politics and public policy and policy change in the realm of healthcare, higher education, criminal justice etc. I am interested in incorporating elements of social action into my courses to teach students how to effectively engage and mobilize to effect policy change or reform. I am interested in attending the course development program in order to learn how to teach and incorporate social action in my courses, when discussing topics relevant to economic and social policy
Course Description:
Examines policy-related topics in public finance and taxation, including education spending, property taxes, and Medicaid spending.
