Motivation to Teach Social Action:
This graduate level MPA course examines the methodology of developing a socially just and equitable society. Students learn the skills required to facilitate the establishment of a more just society and appreciate the struggle of oppressed people and their quest to overcome oppression. Students are taught the two styles of learning and teaching as depicted by Paulo Freire: banking methodology and problem posing. In addition, we explore the framework to design the future just world teaching the five categorical approaches developed by the authors of the book, "Civics for the World to Come." The five pillars are: Inquiry, Storytelling, Networking, Imagination and Advocacy.
