Social Action: Tijuana Watershed Pollution Crisis

Course Description:

This semester you’ll have the opportunity to look deeply into conflicts & interventions that interest you. The class sessions and weekly challenges will help you develop mastery and expertise, positioning you better to bring this intervention to life. Each of you will produce designs that you can implement. You may also produce op-eds, podcasts, or organize public forums to discuss the ideas further.

Students will learn to:

  • conduct a conflict analysis,
  • articulate the critical needs or problems within a conflict context,
  • develop a literature review,
  • articulate and support a theory/theories of change (TOC),
  • offer a theoretically grounded and ethical approach to the problem,
  • execute/articulate a log-frame and a developmental model,
  • articulate monitoring and evaluation approaches locate and critique similar programs,
  • choose/analyze the intervention design appropriate for a particular context, and,
  • present findings in a compelling way.
