Experience

For Ohio University, I designed a course called "Ethical Leadership" which combined my IAF training, interests in social justice movements, the techniques and technology of advocacy and activism, with political theory, case studies, and ethics. I've had decades of volunteer experience in projects and organizations, campaigns and social change strategizing. I've been to MidWest Academy trainings, and a week-long IAF training for clergy, as well as other workshops in advocacy and campaigns. I was involved with Prevents Ohio, a project for addressing violent extremism, and involved with the Dayton, Ohio-area "Upstander" network (dialogue, events, democracy, etc.).

Engagement Description

State and local advocacy campaigns; congregation-based cooperation/coalitions; networking like-minded efforts to compare notes; issues: content might range from local pieces of national/international problems from ICE to foreign policy, town-gown issues of rents and transportation; state issues such as water justice, violent extremism, freedom of speech.

Questions

I'm hoping to learn how to manage a course that is primarily experiential learning--keeping students engaged, on-task, narrowing campaigns for a semester, troubleshooting.
