Motivation to Teach Social Action:

I have been interested in the idea of project-based civics education since the last semester of my MAT program. I believe that such a program would benefit my students and their communities, and I would like to learn best practices to help them implement it.

Course Description:

Students will develop the skills necessary to actively participate as conscientious, informed citizens in a democratic society. Students will identify a civic problem in their communities, develop a project to address that problem, and then execute the program with support from school faculty and staff and students from the University of Memphis.
