Interventions III: Communities and Organizations

Motivation to Teach Social Action:

I'm interested in adding an experiential component to the social action section of my course. We look at theories and examples of social change but have not included an opportunity for students to implement social action in their immediate environments.

Course Description:

This course is the third in a series of social work practice courses. As an interventions course, it will continue to focus on the stages and processes utilized in generalist social work practice through a problem solving approach at the level of organizational and community systems. It will examine the types of human service organizations within the community and examine the political and social context in which community organizing takes place in contemporary society.
