Motivation to Teach Social Action:
Beyond my current teaching, I am interested in developing a stand‑alone social action course in the future. It will focus more explicitly on campaign development, power analysis, and change theory. I am also eager to explore cross‑listed or co‑taught models with adjacent disciplines such as sociology and political science, given the interdisciplinary nature of social action and collective mobilization.
Course Description:
The course presents community practice and macro-level interventions as integral to professional social work. Community practice is discussed in the context of three main arenas: legislative bodies, human service organizations, and communities/neighborhoods. The course addresses key practice knowledge, skills, and values that promote, develop, and maintain human service organizations that effectively meet community and client needs.
