Motivation to Teach Social Action:
I have an interest in macro and political social work. Due to living and teaching in Idaho, this has become even more important because of the current political climate. I want to prepare myself to engage students even more deeply around policy and advocacy.
Course Description:
This is a two semester course that MSW students take in conjunction with their field practicum experience.
In SOCWRK 570, you'll have the chance to put your classroom knowledge into action within the diverse field of social work. From micro to macro practice areas, you'll apply a generalist framework, demonstrating competence shaped by your values, skills, and critical thinking. This hands-on experience will allow you to navigate unique practice situations, honing your judgment and affective reactions.
In SOCWRK 573, the Foundation Practicum Seminar, you'll merge classroom theory with real-world practice, fostering your professional identity and self-awareness. Through group discussions, you'll explore social work values, ethics, and best practices, while also delving into personal reflection and evaluation within the context of your field practicum.
Welcome to Foundation Field Work II and Foundation Practicum Seminar II! This semester is an opportunity to build on your field experience, strengthen your professional skills, and connect classroom learning to social work practice. Approach the semester with curiosity, openness to feedback, and a willingness to grow. I look forward to supporting you as you continue developing as a social work professional!
