Motivation to Teach Social Action:
Motivation to Teach Social Action:
I would be interested in bringing the social action model of teaching to CNU. In addition to planning a whole course using this model, I believe this would help with a youth participatory research program that I am designing with a colleague. We will be working with local high schoolers to identify a problem in their community to research and organize on.
Course Description:
This course examines underlying ideologies as expressed in educational theory and practice and the role of education in modern social, economic and political life. A participatory forum for discussion of a variety of perspectives and issues will provide a basis for students to explore the purpose and future of education in a free and democratic society
