Dear Bobby,
Thank you very much for your kind email with all the information for our upcoming three days of work at the Institute on Teaching Social Action. I want to make sure that you understand that I am coming as an observer rather than a participant. I am the chair of Humanities at a small liberal arts college in Cambridge, MA. I think there is much potential in teaching social action through the Humanities, but I cannot commit to have a syllabus ready with 50% of social action activities in it by the end of the working days. My colleagues in the department are off contract during the summer so I am coming to learn as much as possible so that I can communicate with my team what I have learned with you and create a plan during the year to incorporate social action in some of our language, literature, and history courses. I just wanted to make sure that this was clear before June 6th so that I don’t disappoint anybody.
Please, let me know if my attendance is still welcome.
Best wishes,
Sonia
