
Motivation to Teach Social Action:
I seek to combine participant action research with peace and justice related topics. This program offers a focused approach to my pedagogical development and enhancing the skills and opportunities I intend offer.
Course Description:
Surveys the natures of community and approaches to building, strengthening and protecting of communities. Analyzes needs in various communities and methods of implementing solutions to meet those needs, including community-based design. Explores policies and strategies that produce a high quality of life and maximum opportunity for all residents of local communities. Examines community development through case studies and direct student engagement, including theory and praxis from self-organizing communities. This course offers project management skills and opportunities to directly engage with local communities and organizers.
