Motivation to Teach Social Action:
Include public action in our university courses; make it standard for social work students to participate in at least one real-life campaign
Course Description:
Leadership, in the sense used here, is the willingness and ability of people to assume responsibility in and for groups or organizations, both formally and informally. Leadership is therefore a fundamental prerequisite for a functioning public life, a vibrant civil society and a resilient liberal-democratic political culture.
The focus program “Civil Society Leadership” contributes to strengthening this prerequisite by giving students of the BA degree programs in Social Work, Childhood Education and Special Education the opportunity to explore their own leadership skills, test them in real life practice, then reflect on them and further develop them for their respective professional and public-personal contexts.
