Motivation to Teach Social Action:
I am interested in participating in your program because (1) my students value practical skills, and (2) they care about social change. Your course will help me serve my students better. I teach a variety of public relations courses and always strive to bring in real clients for students to work with. In addition, I serve as the faculty advisor for our student-run public relations agency, where each semester we run social media campaigns for local clients. Why not try to make a social change? I bet my students will love it. I would love to learn more about structuring the course and how to navigate the challenges that can come with integrating social change into the curriculum.
Course Description:
This class focuses on the strategic management of multiple organizational communication channels and the production of written content across different platforms. Students learn how to manage, produce, and coordinate written content and engage internal and external stakeholders using a variety of communication channels (off- and online) available to non- and for-profit organizations.
