Motivation to Teach Social Action:
I am planning to develop a new course on advanced community psychology for undergraduate students, for which I am hoping to integrate social action. I feel the principles of social action and this form of teaching are well aligned with the values of community psychology (e.g., community empowerment, participatory methods, etc.). I also have colleagues at other universities who have participated in the institute and highly recommended it.
Course Description:
In this course, undergraduate students will employ principles and theories of community psychology to community engagement and social action. Through involvement in the local community, students will learn about applications of community psychology and gain experience with community psychology praxis.
