Demand
CAFE J demands that the City of San Jose increase the minimum wage to $10 an hour, with an annual cost of living adjustment.
Target
Secondary Target: City Council when it went before them. With the gathering of 36,000 petition signatures, the Council could have voted to increase the minimum wage, but refused, and put it on the November 2012 ballot, which voted 60 to 40% in favor to increase the minimum wage.
In 2016, another group of students worked to increase the minimum wage to $15, which was also approved in a City Council vote.
