Assistant Research Professor and Director of Engaged Scholarship and Pedagogy

School Name

Georgetown University

School
Department

Center for Social Justice Research, Teaching, and Service

Engagement Description

Food insecurity in DC; Reproductive justice; Immigrant health; Voting

Experience

No, I have not taught social action before. However, I've had students develop campaigns as part of assignments in other courses that I have taught before.

Interest

I am new in my role at Georgetown's Center for Social Justice and am inheriting a Social Action course that has been taught by various individuals at the Center. In my new role and as part of revamping the Engaged Scholarship and Pedagogy portfolio at the Center, I am redesigning the course both in terms of readings and assignments. My interest in participating in this Institute stems for joining a community or learners and thinkers that are excited by the prospect of teaching social action and are willing to implement these learnings in a tangible way. The summer institute and its learnings will factor into my redesign of the Social Action course taught at Georgetown University to yield an engaging community of learners and doers.
