This course utilizes Hip Hop culture to bridge sociological concepts to everyday life. Students will use artifacts such as rap music to learn theory, and will learn sociological methods for analyzing Hip Hop artifacts for sociology concepts.

Various social inequalities, social problems, or issues around identities.
I teach Sociology of Hip Hop, where we discuss the social action/movement aspects of the culture. Students also engage in projects that are atypical class evaluations such as raps and dances.
I have long hoped to incorporate social justice oriented assignments and projects in my courses, as well as mentor graduate students to create research projects that are social action oriented.
