PSY 299 Community Psychology and Social Change

Course Description:

This hybrid service-learning course introduces students to the field of community psychology and major concepts in the discipline. Topics will include ecological perspectives, social justice orientation, ethical practice in communities, prevention and intervention, and community empowerment. With a special focus on the needs of diverse and marginalized communities, addressing social inequality, and advocating for change, students will work independently to develop and implement community based and engaged learning (CBEL) projects. Pre-requisite: PSY 100.
