Community Engagement & Honors Program
In most of the sections I have taught, I have led students to choose their own issue to which their passionate about. These have ranged from human trafficking, to domestic violence, to pollution, to food deserts, and much more. I would like to keep this strategy, but if anything possibly build courses that are specific in targeted issues in their curriculum. I'm currently working towards a specialized minor in Global Citizenship that I hope can implement various classes with this strategy in mind.
I believe so. Though in various forms.
I chose higher education as a career to create environments where students can learn how to become socially responsible for their communities. For the last 10 years I have always taught a course that challenges students to engage in an action (I call it a public praxis project). I feel like this program is the most relatable opportunity for my purpose in education and I hope to bring these lessons to my Honors courses, and to any course I help build/guide in my roles to better our practice in higher education.
Spring 24, she wanted to teach it this semester, but things changed. Still committed!
