Course Description:
The purpose of this course is to provide students with an overview of key environmental legislation and policy as its impact at the federal, state, and local levels of government and governance. This course will evaluate the management and decision-making aspects of (environmental) impact statements under the U.S. Environmental Protection Act, Florida's Land and Water Management Act of 1972, and as a component of the state of Florida's comprehensive planning process. In addition, this course will provide students with a fundamental understanding of ecological processes and concepts. This course will also explore historical and current environmental policy, and how that policy is integrated into environmental planning.
