Course Description:

The course aims to provide students with skills to problem solve beyond the individual, and focus on the community environment. Students will evaluate theory, research, and collaborative social action models at neighborhood, organizational, state, national, and international levels. Students will begin to develop a social justice orientation to engage in direct service with community-based organizations, consult with and advise local community groups, advocate for underrepresented groups, conduct action-research, and advance public policy to better meet the multi-systemic social problems of today, which are often at the root of individual mental health and wellness challenges.
