Climate Change, Energy and Social Justice

Course Description:

This course provides an interdisciplinary understanding of 1) climate change and its impacts 2) how the current energy system contributes to climate change, and 3) how climate change, the current energy system, and the transition to the new system are related to social justice. While analyzing the concepts of environmental, climate, and energy justice at the global and local levels, this class explores the twin goals of increasing energy access (or, reducing energy poverty) and transitioning to renewable energy. Students write a final paper analyzing specific cases or examples of just climate solutions.
