Course Description:
I teach this course annually in WGSS. We review feminist and decolonial models of abolitionism and consider abolition in many social arenas, including mental health, public health, education, and social work. Students are exposed to the ways in which professionals in these fields are already engaging with abolitionist approaches and we collectively consider how carceral and punitive forms pervade our society and culture and imagine alternatives together.
