Course Description:
In the fall semester 2023, I organized a workshop titled “TeachForward: Bridging Theory to Practice for Doctoral Teaching Assistants” with the “Educational Development” team of ETH Zurich (https://ethz.ch/en/the-eth-zurich/education/educational-development/continuing-education/learning-to-teach/teach-forward.html). The workshop was designed specifically for doctoral students involved in teaching. It had the goal of supporting them in integrating transformative elements into their teaching practices. While the 2023 edition was a single-event workshop, we are planning to expand it to a semester-long workshop series. This series will provide ongoing support to participating teaching assistants, helping them to make their teaching more transformative. If this pilot workshop series is successful, there is potential for it to be integrated into the regular offerings of ETH Zurich’s Educational Development department.
