Motivation to Teach Social Action:

With our MSW program transitioning to a fully online format and our curriculum not being updated in several years, I'm uniquely positioned to make significant revisions. As one of two professors teaching Social Justice and Equity for Multicultural Populations at Austin Peay State University, I plan to leverage this opportunity to revamp the curriculum, update the required texts to align with the 2022 Council on Social Work Educational Standards (including the anti-racism lens) and incorporate the principles learned from the institute to create a transformative pedagogy.

Course Description:

An overview of the professional commitment of social work is oppressed people.
