Course Description:
Based on the focus of the service-learning courses I’ll be advising; students may choose to address a range of critical issues affecting the Baltimore community. Given the diverse topics covered in these courses, students might focus on public health disparities, access to healthcare, food insecurity, environmental justice, racial equity, and educational access. For example, students in public health courses might develop campaigns related to mental health awareness or healthcare access for underserved populations. Nursing students could focus on promoting health equity or addressing maternal health disparities, while those in public health might tackle issues like affordable housing or community violence prevention. The flexibility of service learning allows students to engage with a variety of pressing local issues, empowering them to apply their knowledge to make tangible, positive changes in the community.
