Motivation to Teach Social Action:

I'm very excited to develop a social action course for The New School's urban and environmental studies students! I teach undergrad courses at the intersection of race and space, with praxis-based research (and a grad course) focused on reparations and environmental justice -- what I call "reparative planning". This is the title of a new course I'm currently developing for Fall 2025, so course development support to build in social action is right-on-time!

Course Description:

This course explores historical and existing approaches to repair and restoration with a focus on racial and environmental justice issues. Students will learn about theories of reparation and critical planning, and will then develop social action campaigns to engage in action-based research and study.
