Interest

I'm very excited to develop a social action course for The New School's urban and environmental studies students! I teach undergrad courses at the intersection of race and space, with praxis-based research (and a grad course) focused on reparations and environmental justice -- what I call "reparative planning". This is the title of a new course I'm currently developing for Fall 2025, so course development support to build in social action is right-on-time!

Experience

I teach a course called The Revolution will be Cooperative: Coops, Community Land Trusts and the Commune, and there are strong social action elements in the course given that the 2nd 1/2 of the course is focused on actually-existing CLTs and Coops. The social action aspect thus far has been about finding ways to support community-based organizations, and redirecting from traditionally-oriented ways of understanding and evaluating them. I have yet however, to teach a direct social-action course, and I think I'm ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work!
