Course Description:
This course entails the analysis and application of student mobilization for social change. Over the course of the semester, we will learn about student-powered social movements and social action campaigns in the 20th and 21st century in the United States and globally. Alongside our analysis of past and contemporary student-powered mobilization, this course includes a community-engaged practical component. Students will apply the knowledge and skills they learn in the course to join or create impactful social action campaigns on campus or in the local community. Through a combination of lectures, interactive workshops, and real-world case studies, students will learn the fundamentals of grassroots organizing, strategic planning, and effective communication.
