Students Against Sexual Assault (SASA)

Demand

  1. Hire at least four Title IX staff, to fill the four vacant essential Title IX positions to ensure the safety of SJSU’s 36,000 students.
  2. Provide transparency by releasing a regular quarterly report to the entirety of the campus community stating clearly what improvements are being made and engaging students and faculty in these efforts.
  3. Provide accountability to rebuild trust with the campus community by removing any Administrator who is complicit in the case involving Scott Shaw (who sexually assaulted 23 SJSU student athletes), and who is still employed at SJSU.

3/22/24 — The SASA campaign got the SJSU Administration to hire 2 new TITLE IX staff, and to release a regular quarterly report. The SASA campaign started in the spring of 2022 in a social action course in Social Work, and continued in the falling semester in Soci: 164: Social Action.
